Wade Turns 3

This summer Wade turned 3. It is so hard to believe that he is 3 years old. He is so full of energy and loves so much to hang out with his friends. He loves to dress up so this year we decided to have a Cowboy party. A friend of mine is starting up her birthday party planning business for little boy's birthday parties so I thought I would let her run the show for Wade's party. Little did she know that my little guy LOVES his friends and wanted all of them there. Well 18 kids came. It was CHAOS!! I did my best to just take pictures and keep a smile on my face. I am really starting to realize that things just don't go as planned when you have kids. One of these days I will be one of those go with the flow moms. hahahaha. (I couldn't have done it without my best friends Lisha and Carin, they are always there to know when I am loosing my mind and just take over for me. LOVE THEM!!)
Here are some of the pictures from the party.

Wade is ready for the party!!!

Lane the little Cowboy!!

Brothers

Getting his cowboy clothes on. YeeHaw!

Some of our friends at the party.
Wade and Preston playing "pow pow"

We had a stick horse race

We had a bean bag toss

We did a few crafts. (notice we are inside now, we had to move all the tables indoors due to lightning. 18 kids and their parents all in my house, good times)
We did the chicken dance (notice we are outdoors again)
We tied up some parents.
And of coarse, we sang Happy Birthday!
Wade having a piece of cake with his girlfriend, Avery. He used to call her Avery HoneyHam, but sadly he now calls her by her real last name. The HoneyHam was so cute while it lasted.
And finally, the cupcakes (from scratch) that I slaved over the night before the party. Clay and my sister seemed to think they had too much vanilla. Well I thought they were great so guess who ate them ALL???
It was very chaotic with the soggy yard, the lightning, and the large number of people, but we really did have a blast at the Cowboy party. Wade is still talking about it.

Summer Days

We are right smack dab in the middle of summer here. So far we have had a pretty good time. There isn't a whole lot you can do with a 3 month old baby, but we figure it out. We hope to make more summer time memories in the next few weeks.

This was at a Stroller Strides event
For Memorial Day we went camping in Rockport with our good friends The Edwards. Here are Wade, Major, and Juliana taking a boat ride.
Swimming!!!!
This is how Lane has to spend most of his summer days. He'll be running around with his big brother next summer.
We take lots of walks around the neighborhood. (and a few runs here and there)
We found a great new play center near by. Wade loved it, and so did I since it is inside with air conditioning. There are slides, dress up areas, a grocery store, a snack area, sand box, and a maze. This place is really awesome.
We took a trip up to Mansfield in June. We love to visit our favorite Mexican restaurants while we are there. Yummy!!
Cousins!!
Wade and Avery dancing at Memaw and Pepaw's house.
They had so much fun playing in the baby pool.
Wade and Avery putting on a show at my sister's house.
We also do a lot of playgroups. This one was finger painting. Lane and his bud McKenna taking a nap while the big kids paint.
A day at Chuck E Cheeses with Daddy

Family Photos

When Lane was born I was determined to send out announcements telling everyone about his birth. I never got around to sending any out for Wade, and I have always felt bad about that. So I had one of my sorority sisters (who is a local photographer) come over and take some pictures for us. I thought since she was here, might as well do some family photos too. I love that she came out to our house to do them. If anyone around the Houston area needs a photographer, check out her website, www.owensoriginalsphotography.com
The announcement :)

Big Brother

Wade has really been an awesome big brother. As soon as we brought Lane home, Wade was there waiting to help. He is always concerned when Lane is crying, and he always reminds me to get baby Lane where ever we go (don't worry, I won't forget him, but I always tell Wade "Oh thank you, I almost forgot" hehe makes him feel important). Here are a few pictures I got of Wade being a great big brother.

Lane, 2 weeks old. Wade already so in love with his little brother.

Wade LOVES to "hang out" (his words) with Lane.

Lane's protector

Lane was crying here while I was cooking dinner. Wade, without me asking him, got Lane's pacifier put it in his mouth, rocked him, and sang him songs. It was the sweetest thing I have ever seen. If my brain was working, I would have taken a video of it, but Lane was less than a month old and my brain wasn't back in functioning order just yet. (not sure it even is not 3 months later)

My niece, Avery, wanted to hold her new cousin, and Wade was so protective of him. He was worried she might hurt him. I hope he stays a big protective brother.

Wade absolutely LOVES these shirts. He just thinks it is so great that they match each other. I sorta had a feeling that Wade would feel this way, so I bought Lane a newborn one and a 3-6 month one. hehe (poor Lane wasn't feeling the picture taking that day)

Here he is making sure Lane won't fall over.
I'm so proud of Wade for being such a wonderful big brother. (warms my heart)
