Big Brother

Wade has really been an awesome big brother. As soon as we brought Lane home, Wade was there waiting to help. He is always concerned when Lane is crying, and he always reminds me to get baby Lane where ever we go (don't worry, I won't forget him, but I always tell Wade "Oh thank you, I almost forgot" hehe makes him feel important). Here are a few pictures I got of Wade being a great big brother.

Lane, 2 weeks old. Wade already so in love with his little brother.

Wade LOVES to "hang out" (his words) with Lane.

Lane's protector

Lane was crying here while I was cooking dinner. Wade, without me asking him, got Lane's pacifier put it in his mouth, rocked him, and sang him songs. It was the sweetest thing I have ever seen. If my brain was working, I would have taken a video of it, but Lane was less than a month old and my brain wasn't back in functioning order just yet. (not sure it even is not 3 months later)

My niece, Avery, wanted to hold her new cousin, and Wade was so protective of him. He was worried she might hurt him. I hope he stays a big protective brother.

Wade absolutely LOVES these shirts. He just thinks it is so great that they match each other. I sorta had a feeling that Wade would feel this way, so I bought Lane a newborn one and a 3-6 month one. hehe (poor Lane wasn't feeling the picture taking that day)

Here he is making sure Lane won't fall over.
I'm so proud of Wade for being such a wonderful big brother. (warms my heart)

Zoo Field Trip

Wade's class took a field trip to the zoo at the end of the school year. They had been talking about the animals in class for almost a month. So the kids were so excited to actually get to see the animals. We had a picnic lunch while we were there. It was really a great day.

Giraffe!!!
Sleepy Tiger
At the elephant exhibit, all the kids wanted to see this fake elephant and really didn't care much about the real ones. Too funny.
Monkey!!!!
Wade's awesome teachers.
Wagon buddies. These guys (all three of them) rode around the zoo in this wagon. At one point the smallest little guy was pulling Wade and Payton, and loving it. It was way cute.
Here they were on the way home. Successful field trip I must say.

Pictures!!

Having two kids, one of whom is in tons of activities, doesn't leave a lot of time to sit in front of the computer. So for now, I'll just post pictures to update you all on our lives.

Easter Sunday
Wade was so excited to see the Easter Bunny at church.
They had camels, goats, a white tiger, a lion, a panther, a kangaroo, birds, monkeys, a huge turtle, lamas, and ponies at church for Easter. Wade loved it.
He was so excited to feed the camels.
Poor Wade has to spend a lot of time alone in the playroom these days since mommy has to tend to baby Lane. He loves to try to get ALL of his toys out of the bins and onto the floor. He also loves to read tons of books these days. He only needs for us to read them to him a couple of times and then he can almost read them to himself word for word.
Here is Wade self entertaining again. I walked in the room to him like this. It was so funny.

Lane is here!!

Lane Gregory Thompson was born on March 8th at 5:30 in the afternoon. He weighed in at 7 pounds and 11 ounces, 19 1/2 inches long. He is such a sweet, snuggley little guy. He LOVES to be held, and we love holding him. Here are a few pictures of the newest member of the Thompson family.

Pregnancy

Pregnancy is really hard on me. I was SICK for months this pregnancy, very uncomfortable, and just plain miserable. I took a few pictures along the way (not nearly as many as last time). So here are a few of me and my growing belly.

Chevy

Dec. 1994 - Dec. 2009

My doggie Chevy went to doggie Heaven on Christmas Eve. I got her for Christmas in 1994. She was just a tiny little puppy. I named her after Clay's first truck, a white '64 Chevy Step side. I was 14 years old. She has been through so much with me.
Well this past year, I could tell that she just wasn't the same old Chevy. She didn't play as hard, she slept a lot, and then within the past few months she started coughing pretty bad. So I took her to see the doggie doctor and he couldn't figure out why she was coughing. So he took some x-rays which revealed a huge tumor in her chest. He told me she might make it 6 more months. Well she made it about 1 month.
She started getting really sick one day so I took her to the vet. We couldn't really tell if she was dieing or if she just had a bladder infection. So he gave her a shot and told me that I would know what to do by the morning. How can you decide that it is time for your dog, whom you've had for 15 years and is apart of the family, to die? I did not want to make that decision. So I begged Chevy to either show me a better sign that she needed to go, or just please go on her own. Well, at 4:00 a.m. Christmas Eve morning, she started crying with every breath. I told her ok, we'll do this today. Then around 8:00 a.m. we were getting ready to take her to be put down, and I was just watching her. She walked to the back door with her head held up, and her tail wagging. I let her out, turned to tell Clay something, then looked out the window and she had laid down in the grass to die. I ran outside and put my hand on her and felt her heart beat for the last time. I was heart broken and relieved at the same time. This was what I had prayed for, she did what I asked her to do. She went on her own terms, at her house with the ones who loved her around her. I will forever miss my sweet doggie. I love you Chevy.

Christmas in Houston

Since I was pregnant over Christmas and my doctor really didn't want me to travel at all, we decided to stay put for Christmas this year. We have lived here for 8 Christmas's and had never spent one here. It was kind of sad since home (Mansfield) got a white Christmas this year. We would have loved to see that. Oh well, it really was better for us to be here this year. We had much less stress, and my beloved doggie, Chevy, passed away on Christmas eve (pictures of her to come).
So here are a few photos from our first Christmas at our home.

The aftermath
Here is Wade with Santa. He was so brave that day. He started out a little scared but we watched some kids sit on Santa's lap and Wade knew what he wanted to ask for. So we waited in line, and when it was our turn Wade walked right up to that Santa and said "I want a vacuum cleaner". I was so proud of him. He was such a big boy.
Way different than last year's picture. :)
